Lyndsey Fryer O'Connor
Marriage & Family Therapist Trainee
"Stand still. The trees ahead and bushes beside you are not lost. Wherever you are is called here."
Lyndsey Fryer O’Connor sees therapy as an invitation to come into a more compassionate relationship with ourselves. She is drawn to working with individuals seeking a deeper understanding of themselves—exploring how early relationships, life experiences, and the body’s innate wisdom shape the ways we relate to ourselves and others.
Lyndsey brings a warm, grounded, and deeply curious presence to her work. She believes healing begins not by trying to fix ourselves, but by slowing down enough to understand what has shaped us. Together, therapist and client create space to notice longstanding patterns with curiosity rather than judgment, making room for more authentic ways of relating to ourselves and others.
Her approach is rooted in the understanding that our minds, bodies, and relationships continually influence one another. Alongside conversation, Lyndsey gently invites awareness of emotions, body sensations, and the subtle experiences that arise in the present moment. She believes these experiences often hold important information that can deepen self-understanding and support lasting change.
Much of Lyndsey’s work is informed by attachment theory, relational psychotherapy, and trauma-informed approaches. She understands that many protective patterns—such as perfectionism, people-pleasing, self-criticism, or emotional distance—often develop as intelligent adaptations to earlier relationships or life experiences. Rather than viewing these patterns as problems to eliminate, she approaches them with compassion, helping clients understand the purpose these strategies once served while discovering new ways of living that feel more connected and authentic.
Lyndsey believes the therapeutic relationship itself is an essential part of healing. She strives to create a space where clients feel seen, respected, and supported as they develop greater self-awareness, self-trust, and more fulfilling relationships.
Inspired by her own experience growing up as the daughter of immigrant parents and later seeking therapy during her journey through postpartum depression and anxiety, Lyndsey is especially drawn to working with adults navigating anxiety, perfectionism, relationship challenges, life transitions, identity exploration, grief, the perinatal and postpartum seasons of life, and the lasting impact of developmental and relational trauma. She has a particular passion for supporting those exploring family of origin experiences, cultural identity, belonging, and intergenerational patterns.
Lyndsey approaches every client with cultural humility and genuine curiosity. She recognizes that each person’s story is shaped by their relationships, identities, communities, and lived experiences, and believes therapy should honor the unique context each client brings into the room.
Before beginning her path toward becoming a therapist, Lyndsey spent more than twenty years in the corporate healthcare industry. Alongside her corporate career, she has taught yoga for over twenty years, cultivating a deep appreciation for the connection between mind, body, and emotional well-being. Together, these experiences continue to shape an approach that honors both the realities of everyday life and each person’s innate capacity for healing, resilience, and growth.
